Daniel L. Baccari passed away on July 29, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Colleen Williams and his children and stepchildren: Michael Baccari, Erin & Steve Lakomski, Peter Baccari, Andrea & Jon Barrera, Michael & Jessica Williams, Katie Williams & Vishal Rungta, Emma Williams & Sandy Pizarro; his sisters and brother-in-laws Marcia Greco (nee Baccari), Ann & David Newman, and Jeff Koss; Seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen Baccari, his sisters Anita Baccari and Lois Koss (nee Baccari), and his parents Louis and Gilda Baccari.
Dan Baccari was a man of many gifts and talents... Loved and respected by many.
Graduating from University of Buffalo with a B.S. in architecture (1982), Dan became a registered architect in 1991, as well as a certified building inspector (1992) and maintained these licenses until his death. Dan spent many years as a working architect for various Buffalo firms: Babinsky Engineers, Trautman Associates and EI Team. During these years, he also worked in various government positions in the Village of Lancaster, and was active in community organizations including founding a youth football league.
In 2011, Dan was ready for a change, and began working as a Construction Superintendent, first for Jamison Roofing and then in 2013, for RP Oakhill Building Co., applying his unique knowledge and expertise in design, building code, and construction to oversee major construction projects.
In 2021, Dan joined Buffalo Construction Consultants, where he worked until just two weeks before his passing. Those at BCC had this to say about him, “Dan was dedicated to every project that he participated in and would do anything to support the team.” Even after his diagnosis of Stage 4 renal cancer just 9 months ago, “he remained dedicated to his clients and co-workers.”
Dan loved to work, he loved to build things, but he also loved Chrysler and Dodge cars. Still hoping to finish restoring his 1969 Dodge Charger, and undaunted by his failing condition, just a week before his death, Dan attended the annual Carlisle Mopar Show in Carlisle, PA.
Those who knew Dan well, know that his tough, rough exterior, belied, the kind, generous, funny, artistic man inside. Dan was a loyal and generous friend, who never refused to help or counsel or offer his expertise. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. He loved Jesus and it was his deep faith that sustained him through his tough battle with cancer. His legacy will not be the buildings he built, the house he renovated, nor the projects he oversaw. His legacy will be the love he leaves behind and the difference he made in the lives of those he touched. He will be greatly missed.
