Yvette Michelle Clark was born on August 21, 1988, in Ventura, California. She was initially placed with her parents, Alfred and Angela Clark, for foster care. She officially become a member of the Clark family upon her adoption by her parents on May 5, 1994, in St. Louis Missouri where her father was stationed as a Navy Acceptance Test Pilot.
As a Navy brat, she traveled with her family across the United States. She was an energetic and inquisitive child who was active in soccer, ballet and tap. She attended elementary, middle and High School in Waldorf, Md. During her tenure at Westlake H. S., she was an active member of the Choir, Anime Club, and the J.V. Girls Field Hockey Team. She graduated from Westlake H.S. in 2007.
After High School graduation she briefly attended Junior College at the College of Southern Maryland. She then enrolled in the Job Corps, where she obtained her Nurse’s Aide certification. Following Job Corps, she volunteered for a year with AmeriCorps where she traveled throughout the US participating in various community service projects. Upon completion of AmeriCorps she entered the workforce, holding several customer service positions with Target, Bank of America, and Yelp.
On August 22, 2015, she became a mom, giving birth to her daughter Dalena Gabrielle Clark. She was extremely proud of her daughter, who she affectionally nicknamed “Squirt”. She and Squirt were inseparable!
During the COVID 19 Pandemic, her health took a turn for the worse due to complications to Type-1 Diabetes. Her two-year battle with this debilitating disease included strokes, heart attacks, stage-4 renal failure, loss of sight and dialysis. Despite her physical condition, she always maintained an optimistic attitude anchored in her deep religious beliefs and faith in God.
Yvette will be remembered for her enthusiasm, optimism, and lighthearted spirit. When she walked into a room, her perfect “1000-watt smile” would light up the room. She was loved by all that knew her.
Yvette is survived by her daughter Dalena G. Clark, her parents Alfred and Angela Clark, brother Christopher Michael Clark, sister Nicole Renee (Jessa) Miller, Aunts Deborah Clark, Valeria Clark, and Andrea Clark; nephews Da’Vante Elliott Ja’Len Elliott, Hayden Miller, and Avery Miller; nieces Christina Wiley-Clark, Harper Miller, and Aria Miller; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
