Dear Gloria:

Ron and I were saddened recently to hear of Tom's death from you.  We are so sorry we did not know about it when it happened so we could have attended a service.  We will remember the good times we had as members of the Good Luck Squares!  Tom was a great guy!

Frank and I are so sorry to hear of the passing of Tom.  He was always so friendly and kind and a true gentleman.  We will always remember the fun times we had square dancing together.  You shared a wonderful, loving life together and you will have those memories to cherish forever. It's impossible to express in just a few words what your family has meant to me and my family over the past 40+ years. I have known you all of my life, and can't remember a time when you or a member of your family were not there; whether it was sharing a holiday or other celebration, a simple crab feast at your house, or just sitting at my parent's house for a visit. I have the fondest memories of growing up across the street from all of you,  coming over to your house often & how Tom was always a kind & gentle father to Linda & Donna.  We seemed like family & was very glad you stayed in touch with my parents & family when they moved from Seabrook.  Dred, Helen & Tom are now together, eating crabs & playing cards in heaven. Please stay in touch & accept my deepest condolences on Tom's passing.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Tom was always a gentleman, soft spoken, always friendly and outgoing, willing to help out whenever someone needed help. I never knew that he had served in the Army until viewing the photos, but it makes perfect sense from knowing him that he served the nation in the same way that he served his family.  I regret not knowing him better because everytime I talked to him he reminded me of the good and able men that were my role models growing up in Michigan.  I know that he will be missed greatly, but his sterling character will live on in all of our memories.

A Poem for Pop-Pop

A positive attitude and a smile on your face,
a kiss goodnight or a warm embrace.
Teaching me new things, a tractor ride,
or cooking on the grill for a nice meal inside.
Riding our bikes then a bull fight at night,
watching Judge Judy and telling me what's wrong and right.
You didn't like my jeans or anything with a scent
but all those times together was a time well spent.
The man who did it all with no complaints
someone we all adored, almost like a saint.
The force of this illness so powerful and strong
you battled all these years you held out so long.
A head held high through the struggle you endured
going home to God made you 100% cured.
A noble man of words and stories always told
as you fade from our lives the memories we still hold.
As you slip from my sight were never far apart
each and every day you live within my heart.

I love you Pop. I am so blessed to have had a grandfather as wonderful as you.  You will be missed greatly, but everything that you have taught me and shown me, I will honor and cherish for the rest of my life. You are the strongest man to have battled cancer for such a long time and I know that now you are in a better place and cancer free. You will always have a special place in my heart.

Gloria, my heart aches for you. I always admired the devotion I saw between you and Tom. May wonderful memories sustain you and your family during this difficult time.

Gloria, Linda, and Donna mine and my girls deepest sympathy goes out to you all. Tom will certainly be missed he was a Man of great respect and one who I looked up to when I was growing up in Lanham. He was as I believe one of many who made Presley manor a great place to grow up and he enstill many positive attributes on me that I will continue to carry on in my life and will pass on to my girls as they get older. He will be missed and most certainly won't be forgotten. He was a great man you should be very proud of him and I'm sure you all are as am I. Remember this we may not be related but you all will always be family in my heart and I'll always be here for you all in your time of need. love you always chris and girls
