Ultimately a great Woman, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, she leaves behind a dysfunctional but very loving family with a lot of extended family that she is extremely proud of. Our family tree looks more like a briar patch than an actual tree. With Dee being born in Indore, West Virginia, this is not the least bit unusual. Above all, she treasured her family and especially loved her role as Nana.
Dee would tell you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. She was a lioness and sugar coated nothing. These words of encouragement, wisdom, and sometimes comfort, kept us in line and gave us something to pass on to our children.
Dee loved camping. She loved going to new places and sitting around a fire.
She also loved words and games. If the 2 were combined that was the best. Crosswords, Words with Friends, and Scrabble were among her favorites. And Sudoku quickly became an obsession as well.
She worked at Litton Industries as an assembly inspector before becoming a housewife. She may have missed her calling as a race car driver, though. Back in the day she had a red Gremlin with a V8 engine, and she loved to put the petal to the metal and burn some rubber. Her criteria for buying a car was, “when I step on the gas, I want it to GO”. Kind of hard to beat the kind of takeoff that little Gremlin had with that big ‘ole engine, mom.
She will be hugely missed and is survived by her husband Ken Brannan, children: Teresa (LaFourcade) Null, George LaFourcade, Laura (Brannan) Vasquez, son-in law William Null and son-in-law Jorge Vasquez, and son from another Mother Steven Craig Howard, Grandchildren: Justin Young, Jacob LaFourcade, Jaxon LaFourcade, and Laura “Boo” Barrett, Great Grandchild Jayceon LaFourcade and beloved pet, Abby.
All whom loved her will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, and undying love and caring for them.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held, in lieu of a service, at 7835 Manet Way in Severn Maryland at 2:00 on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Please come share your memories of Dee with her family.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.robertevansfuneralhome.com for the Brannan family.
