Miriam Anne Toner, age 92, passed away August 12, 2024, in Bowie, Maryland. Born Miriam Anne McGuirk on November 13, 1931, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and married October 13, 1951, to LTC Raymond F. Toner, U.S. Army (Ret.), deceased February 18, 2006. Miriam was the beloved mother of two sons, Michael J. Toner, Patrick R. Toner (deceased), and two daughters, Christine T. Castillo, Susan T. Moore, and is survived by three grandchildren.
Miriam was a resident of Bowie, Maryland for 55 years. During the years of her husband’s military career, she also lived in Japan, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Germany, and Virginia. She was active in the Fort Meade Officer’s Wives Club for many years during her husband’s retirement and was the Cantor at the Fort Meade Post Chapel. She volunteered with the Army Community Service aiding military families and with the American Red Cross. Miriam was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed classical and operatic music and was an avid reader.
