James Thomas Dugan “Jim”, 87 years old of Glenn Dale Maryland, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 11, 2023. He was born in Washington, DC to James and Margaret Dugan on May 5, 1936. He married Sandra Lynne McCullough “Sandy” on November 30, 1963 at St. James Catholic Church, Mt. Rainer, Maryland. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. James is survived by his brother John Patrick Dugan “Pat” and his children, Kathryn (spouse Brian Nejedlo), Margery (spouse Scott Blancke), Timothy and Colleen (spouse Trampas Ferree) as well as his grandchildren Victoria, Caroline, Matthew, Presley and Lee. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra and sisters Joan Meng and Eileen Dintamen.
Jim was a dedicated civil servant with 30 years of service in the CIA and a veteran of the US Army. Jim and Sandy lived their retirement dream traveling the country in their camper. They became snowbirds spending winters in Florida at their favorite campgrounds. He remained active playing softball into his late 70’s, walking the beach when camping at Jetty Park and riding his electric bike daily. He had a knack to build or fix just about anything. Sandy called him a “social butterfly” because he would strike up a conversion and joke with anyone in ear shot. His recent passion was monitoring power that his solar panels produced. He especially liked getting paid for the excess power he sold back to the grid. Above all he was a generous and selfless person and inspiration to his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.
An inurnment for both James and Sandra Dugan at Arlington National Cemetery with modified honors, as well as a celebration of life, will be announced at a later date.
