Gary was born on November 28,1944 to Marjorie Anna Robey (maiden name) and Mitchel Lee Snellings in Washington, D.C. Gary graduated from Ballou Senior High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and served as an Ordnance Mechanic on the USS Stormes.
Gary met Angela Blandina Cruz, while taking a lunch break at People’s Drug store on Connecticut Avenue in Washington D.C., where Blandina worked. Gary and Blandina got married, and shared three daughters, Cindy, Lorena, and Rossanna. Gary went to night school and graduated from Benjamin Franklin University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Gary retired from the Federal Government and enjoyed spending his time going to the O’Malley Senior Center with Blandina, playing “pool”/billiards, and taking exercise and yoga classes. He was a devoted Washington Redskins fan. He also got a kick out of bargain grocery shopping, actively scouring the sales ads and clipping electronic coupons.
Gary was predeceased by Mitchel Lee Snellings (father), Marjorie Anna Robey (mother), and Ronald Lee Snellings (brother). He is survived by his loving wife Angela Blandina Snellings (spouse), Dolores Ann Vincent (sister), Cindy Snellings Prince (daughter) and her husband John Norman Prince (Son-in-Law), Lorena Patricia Rebetsky (daughter) and her husband Stephen Paul Rebetsky, III (Son-in-Law), Rossannna Maria Snellings Crispell (daughter) and her husband Carl Lee Crispell (Son-in-Law), John Michael Prince (grandson), Daniel Taylor Prince (grandson), Stephen Paul Rebetsky IV (grandson), and Adam Michael Rebetsky (grandson).
Family and friends are welcome to attend Gary's memorial visitation on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD, 20715. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 16501 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD, 20715. Burial is to follow to Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD, 21032, please arrive no later than 1pm.
