Virginia Mary (Corbett) Reidy passed away quietly on Saturday, April 27, 2013 after a long illness. She was a resident of Brewster, Mass., Stuart Florida, and formerly, Dover, Mass., where she raised her four children with her husband, Edward, who died in 2003.
Virginia was born in Boston, in 1923, to Colonel Edward and Lillian Corbett. She grew up in Dorchester, graduated from Dorchester High School , the Fay School and Catherine Gibbs. She enlisted in the Navy Waves in 1943. She married Edward P. Reidy in 1947. She is survived by: Patricia Metcalf of Hull, Mass., Janet Reidy of Bradenton, Florida, Mark Reidy of Erie, Colorado, and Susan Sorabella of Holyoke, Mass. Virginia has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
Virginia was an avid and accomplished golfer, singer and cook. She loved Cape Cod and spent much of her early life in Dennisport and, and for the past 50 years, spent wonderful days in Brewster.
Funeral arrangements have been made through Nickerson-Bourne, 40 MacArthur Street, Bourne, Mass. A brief service will take place there at 10:30am, May 17, 2013. Then internment will be in the Bourne National Cemetery, staring at 11:30am.Virginia will be buried next to her husband, who was a Marine Sergeant during WWII.
