Graduate of Bourne High School, Class of 1978, Kyle was a true Patriot who loved and served his country commendably. Joining the United States Coast Guard from 1979-1983 as an electrician’s mate on the USCGC Spar, he later joined the Air National Guard and deployed several times to the Middle East.
He loved his close family including his brothers and sisters, Terri (Richard) Sheehan, Mark (Tina) Songer, Leanne (Mark) Avakian, Daron (Annie) Songer, his many nieces and nephews and beloved family far and wide.
He is survived by his three sons, Raymond (Brianne) Songer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Matthew Keith Songer of Bourne, Massachusetts and Zacchary Kyle Songer of Boston, Massachusetts.
Kyle was the centerpiece of family, always having a positive mindset. He loved to joke and spin things regardless of how serious the situation was. Kyle was a storyteller and loved to be around everyone. His escape was to drive, regardless of the destination. If you were lucky enough, he was known to stop for a quick chat. For those who knew and loved Kyle, the battle that he endured was one he faced with admirable strength.
Visitation hours at Nickerson Bourne will be on Tuesday, June 4th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at St. John’s Catholic Church Pocasset on June 5th at 10:00 a.m. A private burial for family and friends will be held on June 10th at the National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Judes and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
