John D. Silva

SILVA, John D. 75, of Falmouth, MA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 11, 2024. He was born in New Bedford, MA on February 2, 1949 to the late John B. Silva, and Mary Silva (Daniels).

John grew up in New Bedford and graduated from New Bedford High School. Soon after graduation John joined the military. His military career spanned nearly 4 decades in the Air Force where he rose to the rank of Command Chief Master Sergeant. John loved traveling with his family, watching his grandson Jayden play hockey, tending to his yard, muscle cars, watching the Miami Dolphins and Boston Bruins, and making those around him laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen “Kathy” Silva (Pimental) to whom he shared 36 years in marriage. His daughters: Danielle Correia of Falmouth, MA; Corina Nangle (Silva) and Brett Nangle of Marstons Mills, MA; and Kelsey Hogge (Silva) and Elliott Hogge of Gloucester, Virginia. His grandchildren Jayden, Drake, Violet, and Carson. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and his mother-in-law Barbara Pimental.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday October 25th from 10:30 -12:30 pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm in the funeral home, burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery will follow with full military honors.
