SAGAMORE BEACH- James L. Sorenti, age 67, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family after a hard battle with cancer. Jim, or Ramp as he was affectionately known, was the loving son of Mary L. Sorenti and the late Joseph F. Sorenti. He grew up in Sagamore Beach with his 8 siblings and graduated from Bourne High School, class of 1975. Jim married the love of his life Maureen in 1977 and had 41 remarkable years together before she passed away in 2018. Jim and Moe had three daughters, Lisa, Michelle, and Angela whom they loved unconditionally.
Jim devoted his life to providing for his family and giving them all the love anyone could ever ask for. Even as a child, Jim loved to take anything mechanical apart and put it back together just to see how it worked. Jim was an amateur motorcycle racer. He combined his love of motorcycles and tinkering to become a motorcycle mechanic in his younger years. Jim also served his country, enlisting in the Air Force and becoming an Aerospace Propulsion Journeyman, for jet engines on F-15 and F-16 fighter jets. Jim worked for the family business, Sorenti Brothers Inc., his whole life. He loved working side by side with his family, doing everything from working at the snack bar as a teenager, hauling gasoline, to excavating, and numerous other projects. He and his brother took over the company in 2003 and met countless employees, customers, and vendors through which he made lifelong friendships.
Jim loved the beach, spending time with his grandchildren, going to the shooting range, traveling all over the country for NASCAR races, and riding his ATV. He especially loved exploring new places with Maureen on their motorcycle and boat. He was always willing to help his friends and family. As the “pool boy,” he would tirelessly care for Nonnie’s pool so the whole family could enjoy it. Everyone who met him knew Jim was generous and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jim was preceded by his wife, Maureen A. Sorenti (Bickerton) of Halifax, and father, Joseph F. Sorenti of Sagamore Beach. He is survived by his mother, Mary L. Sorenti of Sagamore Beach, his children; Lisa J. and Russell B. Hunt of Loudon, NH, Michelle and Brendan C. Mullaney of Sagamore Beach, and Angela J. and Michael Cafua of Sagamore Beach, his 6 grandchildren; Audrey, David, Donnie, Eddie, Sara, and Sean, his 5 sisters; Mary Jo, Judith, Janette, Jane, and Jennifer, 3 brothers; Joseph Jr., Michael, and Jonathan, and many extended family members
