Dottie worked many years for Bellingham Public Schools, retiring in 2002. Prior to that her most rewarding purpose was as a mother and homemaker dedicated and devoted to raising her children, Kevin and Tracy.
Throughout her life, Dottie had a love and passion for many things, most notably her family, her greatest pride and joy and whom she was completely devoted to. She adored being a Mimi and Grammie to her five grandchildren and would have done anything for them. Milford, MA where she was born and raised, and no matter where she lived, was always proud to call her “hometown”. Ponce Inlet, FL where she spent her retired years in the sun and on the beach with Ronnie and many very special friends. Her most special place of all was Old Cape Cod where she most enjoyed being with family. Her special love of the Cape has been ingrained and passed on through her children and grandchildren.
Dottie took great pride in her family heritage and spent many hours researching genealogy and her family tree. Through this, she discovered lineage descending back to The Mayflower passengers, Revolutionary War, and The Civil War. She was a proud member of The General Society of Mayflower Descendants, Daughters of The American Revolution, and The John Alden Kindred of America. Dottie was not shy at making these discoveries a topic of conversation.
Dottie will be remembered for her gentle spirit and her loving and caring heart. She dedicated herself to Ronnie, her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Dottie lived by a set of ideals that were purposeful, true and exemplary and those ideals, rooted in love and loyalty have been instilled in all she leaves behind. Although she wanted more time on this earth her greatest purposes in life were fulfilled. She earned her heavenly wings and will forever be a guiding beacon and inspiration for all who loved her. Her grace, soulful blue eyes and beautiful smile will be missed by so many.
Per her wishes, services will be private and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring her life can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
