John P. Sturgeon died at home in Boulder, CO Sunday morning, July 7.2019. John was born in Wray Colorado September 1, 1934. He lived and attended schools in Canon City and Trinidad Colorado until high school. He was graduated from Longmont High in 1952. After attending college for a year, he joined the Marine Corps. After boot camp, he was selected to attend electronic schools. After electronic school training he was sent to Japan. After completing his stay in Japan, he was discharged. He returned to college to complete his engineering and business degree. One of his college courses required a research paper on a sales program. He researched the telephone company's Yellow Page sales program. This involved an interview. The results he got an excellent grade on the paper and a job offer. It was a perfect fit. He sold Yellow Pages until he retired. His survivors are his wife Lois and his 2 children, Greg Sturgeon of Thornton, CO and Jeanette Durham of Grand Junction. The grandchildren are Brian and Audrey Sturgeon and Eiley, Simon, Isabelle and Samuel Durham. Memorial service is July 14, 2019 at 2:00 at Crist Mortuary. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery July 16, 2019, at 1:30.
