Helen Louise Wilson passed away peacefully September 6, 2020. She was born in Boulder, Colorado, the youngest of 4 children. Her father was a schoolteacher and her mother a maker of women’s hats. Helen met her future husband Alvin C. Wilson on a high school field trip to see the plants and flowers in Alvin’s mother’s yard on University Hill in Boulder.
After Alvin returned from WWII at the age of 21, they were married at The Methodist Church in Boulder. They were together for 73 years.
Helen attended the University of Colorado, receiving a major in Home Economics and a minor in Chemistry. She attended one semester of college with her sister in Bar Harbor, ME. After college, she taught Institutional Food Care at CU in Boulder.
With her husband Alvin, who was a member of the Boulder Elks Club, they spent many hours and years ballroom dancing together for fun. Her other hobbies were cooking, sewing, crocheting, and genealogy. She loved her time with her Quester and DAR groups.
Alvin passed away September 2019. Helen is survived by two daughters, Linda Lou Wilson MD and Cindy Sue Wilson DDS, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. William C. Wilson, her son preceded her in death.
