Dorothy Catherine Patton, known as Dottie to her friends and family, grew up in Philadelphia with her brother Joseph and her sister Nancy. She always called Philadelphia home and lived there all her life, except for a few years during her marriage. She met and married Robert Patton when she was 19 on July 10, 1954. They had 2 children, Janette Phyllis in 1955 and Mary Patricia in 1960 before separating and divorcing on July 11, 1974.
Dottie worked in the banking industry for most of her life, processing checks at night so that she could be home for her children during the day. She loved spending time with them and went on many local trip, like the zoo and various museums. As her children grew up, they went to the NJ seashore, Boston, England, and 2 cruises. Janette joined the Navy in 1976 and Dottie visited her in Tennessee where she was stationed and later to Mississippi where she attended college.
She always loved to read, learning about other times and lands, and also did crocheting and other needlework. Both out of necessity and because she loved it, she walked everywhere she could and took public transportation, and she could tell you how to get practically anywhere in the city by bus, trolley, or the elevated trains of Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
She loved having dogs and never was without at least one, but usually had two. Not liking to be separated from them, and when visiting her daughter Mary Patricia in the suburbs, she would insist that they come along for the week stay several times a year. Renting most of her life, she was very proud that she was the first one in her family to buy a house soon before she retired. She shared the house with her niece Debra Gladden for the last few years of her life.
She is predeceased by her mother Mary Drozd Antoniewicz and her father Joseph Antoniewicz, sister Nancy McCullough, and brother Joseph Antoniewicz Jr. She is survived by her 2 daughters Janette Patton and M. Patricia Kelly.
