Charlotte A Porter, a long time Boulder, CO resident, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 in her home at Brookdale Assisted Living. Charlotte was 84 years old.
Charlotte Porter, known as “Char” to her family and friends, was born October 9, 1935 to Eldred and Alice B (Fife) Porter in Bingham Canyon, Utah. The oldest of seven children, she grew up in North Salt Lake, Utah. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1958 with a BS degree in Elementary Education. After which, she married and raised four children in Boulder, CO. Char worked for the Boulder Valley School District with homebound students and as a substitute teacher.
Char was a true social butterfly, prolific painter, and writer, as well as holistic-health and yoga enthusiast. She enjoyed taking classes and attending art-centered group activities. Char shared her passion for art and health through teaching courses in the Old Master’s painting techniques and yoga classes in her home. She belonged to the Boulder Arts Association and volunteered within the community.
Char’s art reflected her love for peaceful vistas, nature, and color or, as she referred to them, her “Flames of Passion.” Char was also an avid photographer and used her photographs not only as inspiration for her paintings but also included them in her multi-media pieces. Charlotte is survived by her children, Connie Thomase of Albany, NY, Daniel Collier of Fort Worth, TX, Wayne Collier of Denver, CO and Matt Collier of Longmont, CO; and six siblings living in Utah, Stan Porter, Susan Gibson, Sandy Mower, Linda Hancock , Myrna Boggess and Doris Butt. Charlotte is further survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A closed funeral service will be held in Boulder Colorado, Friday April 17th at 1 pm Mountain Time. A live video stream is planned.
