Betty Lou Peterson passed away on April 11, 2017. She was 90 years old. Born December 22, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa to Melvin and Lucille Olson. She grew up in Springview, NE before attending Nursing school at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Betty married Carlyle ‘Pete’ Peterson in 1950. Together, they had four children, Craig Peterson of Castle Rock, CO., Ann Peek of Cottonwood, AZ., Lance Peterson of Arvada, CO and Julie Peterson. Both Pete and Julie preceded Betty in death. Julie in 1997 and Pete in 1999.
Betty and Pete moved to Boulder in 1952, where they both lived out their lives. Besides the three children, Betty is survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Betty worked as an RN in Boulder before raising the four children. She then started a new career, beginning as a Victims Witness Volunteer and Peer Counselor at Mental Health Partners, which led to 18 years as the Restitution Officer in the Boulder District Attorney’s office. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mental Health Partners.
The Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Crist Mortuary.
