Maria was a proud USMC veteran and served from 1944-1946 during WWII. She worked as a travel agent for over 50 years, and for 30 of those years owned and operated Olde Harbour Travel in the North End. She was a life member of WMA Bay State Chapter and volunteered several years for “Toys for Tots” in Boston.
She was the beloved wife of the late Alec J. Alexander. She will be deeply missed by her family and leaves two loving children, her son, Kenneth Alexander of the North End and Vietnam; and her daughter, Denise Archila and her husband Robert, of Braintree; Three cherished grandchildren, Elyse, Danielle, and Adam Archila, all of Braintree. She was the sister of the late Leon Calitri and Dolores Giuliano and she will be missed dearly by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be from the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St, Boston on Thurs, May 22nd, 2014 at 8:45 am followed by the rite of Christian burial at St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St, Boston at 9:45am. The family will be receiving visitors at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-8pm. Private interment in The MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
