On Friday, December 3, 2021, Joseph Trevisone, loving father of five children, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at Brockton Hospital while listening to Italian opera. Joseph was born on September 14,1934 in Boston, the son of Lena Muccini and Lawrence Trevisone. He was raised on Endicott St. in the North End of Boston and attended St. Mary's school there. At the age of 23 Joseph married Brenda Ladanyi and they moved to Myrtle street in Somerville, MA. He worked collecting newspapers and also at a bleach factory with his brother Johnny. He also worked at Bova's bakery and spent time at Parziale’s Bakery where he formed friendships with owners over their love of boxing at the North End Union Ring. He later worked as a window washer in Boston alongside his nephew Joey, eventually becoming a supervisor in the company. He retired from window washing after having a massive stroke in the 80's while at his summer cottage on Arlington Pond in Salem, NH.
Joseph then became a crossing guard on Cross St. in Somerville, MA where he spent time in-between shifts at J&S subs and cracking jokes with his best friend Rudy Pino at Sudzy Sal's and at the Pino's Barber Shop with "Nat-al-lee" Pino.
He also worked weekends selling produce at the Salem Flea Market in NH with his brother Johnny and daughter Jill. He later moved to Salem, NH.
Joseph took care of his brother Johnny when he started showing signs of Alzheimer's Disease. He inevitably had to be placed in a nursing home where Joseph visited and brought food to his brother daily.
At age 80 Joseph moved to Brockton, MA to live with his daughter Rhonda. A year later Joseph experienced a health crisis and was not expected to live through it; he was hospitalized for many months before recovering and returning to his daughter's care. Finally, at age 87, he passed due to respiratory failure.
Joseph loved many things, being Italian was one of them. He had an abundance of pride in his heritage and the culture of Italy. He had a unwavering love of God and read the bible often. In his younger days Joseph and his Uncle Paulie LOVED to go dancing. They often held card games and played bocce ball in the back yard. They were more like brothers, being only a year apart in age. He was often found at Half Time Pizza on Causeway St. in Boston helping his friend Mark with the business or at his uncle Mike's egg store in Boston or his uncles restaurant Caffe Pompei on Hanover St. He spent a lot of time at his Mother and Stepfather Joseph Pensavalle's house in Medford perfecting the drinking of the wine they made, or planting and tending to the grape and blackberry trees they planted, or casting a line at the lake. He loved cooking. His best creations were his gravy, chicken soup, chicken livers and bread. He would feed anyone who would partake. He spent a great deal of time at his sister Celia's house. Joseph had 6 siblings and many nieces and nephews; he spent time with all of them as he was very family oriented. Joseph had a passion for buying nice clothes, suits and ties and anything that was "as seen on tv". He was a collector of anything antique. He enjoyed painting foliage and flowers, planting gardens, flirting with the girls, He loved slapstick comedy and had a great sense of humor. Family was everything to him.
