Fr. Dennis J. Wheatley O.F.M.

Fr. Dennis Wheatley, O.F.M, passed to eternal life on the morning of Dec. 11 at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family. He died after a long struggle with complications from Covid-19. At the time of his death, Fr. Dennis was Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Waltham, MA, where he had served for twenty-two years.

Fr. Dennis was ordained a priest in 1984, and served in a variety of ministries, including many years of teaching at Christopher Columbus High School in Boston and Marian High School in Framingham. He also served the province as Provincial Definitor.

Fr. Dennis is survived by his brothers of the Order of Friars Minor, his brother Thomas Wheatley and his wife Susan, his sister Odile Wheatley, as well as nieces and nephews: Kim Day, Jennifer Hindin, Odile Menna, Thomas Wheatley, Alysha Desinor, and grand nieces and nephews Marissa, Gianna, Mariangela, Isabella, Rocco, Daniel, Noah, Aaron, Liam, Katie, Andrew, and Blake.

A vigil service will be held for Fr. Dennis at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham, MA from 4:00 PM -8:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 19. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the same location on Monday, Dec. 20 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY.
