Carmen “Tilly” DeMartino, 66 years of age, passed on Easter Sunday March 31, surrounded by his loving family and closest friend. A life-long resident of Boston’s North End and the beloved son of the late Mary and Frank DeMartino. Cherished brother of Matilda “Tillie” Vecchia of Saugus and brother-in-law of the late Walter Vecchia. Lovingly remembered by his adoring nieces Lana DeLuca of Saugus, Janine Vecchia Leach of Swampscott and Cynthia Doucette of Saugus and their husbands, Joseph DeLuca, Roger Leach and John Doucette. Proud Great Uncle to Zachary DeLuca and Olivia Leach. Devoted caregiver to his loving canine companion “Butchie”.
“Tilly” is survived by countless, faithful life-long friends and colleagues with whom he shared wonderful memories and who stood by his side during his illness. He was admired and received recognition for his tireless work as Facilities Manager at the Suffolk County Court House for 23 years. He impacted many young lives in the North End where he served as a youth hockey coach and mentor to upcoming sports enthusiasts like himself. Tilly had a passion for golf and was a loyal fan of his beloved Boston Bruins. We will all miss his beautiful smile, infectious humor and abundantly generous spirit. He will live forever in our hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St, Boston, on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11:00AM, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett, MA. Family will be accepting visitors from 4PM-8PM on Wednesday.
