Bonds and Roy F. Bonds, she Booneville-Sara Bonds Pounds, 97, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Booneville. Born November 1, 1920 to Nellie Smith Bonds and Roy F. Bonds, she was a lifelong resident of Booneville. She graduated from Booneville High School and attended Blue Mountain College and Mississippi State University. She was the devoted wife to the late Oswald Chambers Pounds, the mother of the late Annise
Pounds Charlwood, and the sister to the late R.J. Bonds.
She was a retired employee of the Booneville Gas, and Water Department. She was a
charter member of the Booneville Pilot Club where she served two terms as the
secretary for the MS/AL Chapter and chairman of the other district committees. She
had served as an officer for the Pilot Club of Booneville as President, Vice-President,
Secretary, and Chairman of Committees. She was also a member the MSDAR Natchez
Trace Chapter and had served as Chaplain and on committees. She was a member of
UDCDT Beall Chapter and a charter member of the MSDAR great-granddaughter’s
club where she served as Secretary and on committees. She had served as one of the
first members of Prentiss County’s Foster Care Review Board. She was a devout
member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville where she served as the Jean
Jacobs Sunday School Class teacher for many years, sang in the choir, and served on
numerous committees. She enjoyed traveling, loved her church and her family, and
most of all faithfully served her Lord and Savior.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville with Bro. Jason Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Sara Johnson and her husband Marshal, of Blue
Springs; John Charlwood and his wife Danielle of Bethany, Jacob Charlwood of
Florence, AL; her four great-grandchildren, Rett Johnson, Reagan Johnson, Ryleigh
Kate Charlwood, and Rodney Charlwood; her son-in- law David Charlwood and his
wife Martha of Bethany; her sister-in- law Shelby Bonds of Booneville; three nieces
Carla Hill (Rick) of Saltillo, Andrea Owen (Greg) of Booneville, and Holly Burks
(Chris) of Tupelo and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her only child Annise
Pounds Charlwood, and her little brother, R.J. (Piggy) Bonds.
Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017, from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
