Robert L. Honeycutt, 81, passed away October 21, 2024.He was born in Corinth, MS on December 7, 1942, to Looney L. and Virginia Honeycutt. In 1970, he married Sue Kimbrell Honeycutt. He was an alumnus of Kossuth High School class of 1961, Northeast Mississippi Community College, and Mississippi State University. Robert was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in Kossuth, MS, and attended First Baptist Church Booneville faithfully for many years. He was a member of the Isaac Sunday School class and took part in the Brotherhood and Joy Makers Groups.
Robert was a retired educator, teaching at SD. Lee High School in Columbus, MS, Oxford High School, and Northeast Mississippi Community College. At Northeast Mississippi Community College, he was an industrial arts instructor, a counselor, the Director of counseling, and the Director of Vocational and Technical Education.
He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator and traveler. He loved Mississippi State and NEMCC. He was a dedicated Husband of 54 years, Father, and Grandfather. He loved to grow things and spend time working in his yard and garden.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Andrea Mathis (Luke); granddaughter, Jourdan Mathis; grandson, Casen Mathis’ sister, Jimmie Lee Whitt; brother, Wayne Honeycutt (Barbara; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dan Honeycutt.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday October 22, 2024, at McMillan Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Cox, Freddie Goff, Brady Mize, Steve Nabers, and Barry Whitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Isaac Sunday School Class and several close friends.
