Janie Gale Smith Clouse, 78, of Booneville passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born November 19, 1944 to Earl Ray and Delta Dee White Smith. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Clouse was a 1962 graduate of Booneville High School, a 1964 graduate of NEMCC and a 1966 graduate of Memphis State University. She had a career in teaching in the public school system for over 30 years with most of them being taught at Hills Chapel Elementary School. Janie was known for her friendly personality and always having a smile on her face. She taught numerous Sunday school classes and played the piano on numerous occasions. She loved birds, flowers, especially sunflowers, cooking, baking, playing piano, her granddaughter Lily’s dog Magnolia and spending time with her family.
A celebration of life will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 with Bro. Steve Nichols and Bro. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial will be in the Little Brown Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bro. James Russell Clouse; her daughter, Abigail Clouse Smith (Nick); her granddaughter, Lily Moss; Her brother, Mackie Don Smith (Rhonda); her sister, Mary Lynn Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Billy Smith; her sister, Bettie Raye Akers; her nephew, Stephen Akers and her son-in-law, Steven Moss.
Pallbearers will be, Marc Smith, Nickey Marshall, Kenny Paul Geno, Carter Smith, Evan Akers, and Sterling Akers.
