J.W. Kitchens, 91, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Lakeview Place in Mantachie, MS. J.W. was born on September 14, 1927, to James Wesley and Pearl Bridges Kitchens in the Kirkville Community of Itawamba County.
In 1950 J.W. moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin where he worked at Simmons for several years and American Motors/Chrysler for 30 years. In 1964, he married his beloved wife, Mozelle Fuggitt Kitchens of Booneville. They made their home in Kenosha until their retirement in July 1989 when they returned to Booneville to enjoy their retirement. J.W. was an active member of East Booneville Baptist Church until his health began to fail. He was a lifetime 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He especially enjoyed fellowshipping and traveling with the senior adult group. He and Mozelle enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends and family, and fishing.
J.W. will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, son, brother, uncle and a friend to all who knew him. “We Love our J.W.!”
A celebration of life service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May12, 2019, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Douglas Kitchens officiating and Mr. Mike Kelley delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
He is survived by three brothers, Wilburn Kitchens of Tupelo, James (Phyllis) Kitchens of Mantachie and Haskel (Carol) Kitchens of Dorsey; a host of nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Wynette Kelley, Louise Kitchens and Dovie Kitchens; brother-in-law, Boyd Fuggitt; and special friend, Brenda Whisenant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozell; his parents; sisters, Burton Kitchens Moreland, and infant, Varnell Kitchens; brothers, Marvin Kitchens, Earl Kitchens, Harley Kitchens, Sylvia Arnold “Tint” Kitchens, Elmie Kitchens, R.D. “Dex” Kitchens, Gaddis Kitchens, Ullie Kitchens, Bob Kitchens and Talmadge Kitchens; and special friend, Billy Whisenant.
Pallbearers are Roy Kitchens, Stanley Kitchens, Glen Kitchens, Philip Kitchens, Steve Moreland, Barry Kitchens, Terry Kitchens, Kirk Kitchens and Brent Kitchens.
Honorary pallbearers are his nieces, Dawn Lamp, Dana Stancil, Claudia Kitchens, Patrice Brown, Susan Johnson; his loving caregivers at Lakeview Place, Stacie Stilwell, Meagan Knight, Kimberley Roye, Summer Mocaby, Christy Moss, Glenda Ruiz, Vickie Holcomb, Crystal Hightower, Stacie Graham and Jenna Holcomb.
Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
