George M. “Vernie” Crowe, 65, of Tupelo, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was born September 18, 1948 to George Marlen and Lena Taylor Crow. He graduated from New Site High School in 1968 and attended North East Community College. George worked as a delivery man for Middleton Office Supply, then he was the manager of ALCO Used Office Furniture. Later he was the manager of the Tupelo Shoe Hospital before he became the delivery man for Whittington Used Office Furniture. He was a member of Gloster Street Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 31, 2014 at McMillan Funeral Home with Minister Brian Galloway and Minister Joe Connell officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Marie Gann Crowe; two sons, Paul (Stacie) Crowe of Blue Springs and Philip (Crystal) Crowe of Saltillo; two sisters, Dela Mae Henry of Dennis and Etta Rae (W.D.) Wilson of Oxford; four grandchildren, Emma Grace Crowe, Evelyn Crowe, Kaitlyn Crowe, and Lucas Crowe; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nella Faye Bennett and Dorothy Cunningham; and three brothers, Eulas, J.C. (Jake), and Dalton (Dal) Crowe.
Pallbearers will be David Bennett, Jim Crowe, Sam Cunningham, Charlie Crowe, Wade Henry, and Jerry Crowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Henry, Gerald Crowe, Lucas Crowe, Leverl Crowson, Charles Milam, Don Carr, Loyd Williams, Danny Johnson, and Kenny Whitfield.
Visitation will be 5-9pm Wednesday, July 30, 2014 and until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
