Ronaldo D. Guanlao was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ronaldo will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Ronaldo was born on August 23, 1949 in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of Felix and Benedicta Guanlao. Ronaldo grew up in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. Ronaldo was raised with Five siblings. He had three sisters; Agnes, Gloria and Anabel, and two brothers; Jose and Emmanuel. Ronaldo was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years. A typical teenager, Ronaldo had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Mapua High School. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
On September 28, 1977 Ronaldo exchanged wedding vows with Mena Oliveros at Espiritu Santo Church of Manila, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Ronaldo was committed to making his new family happy. Ronaldo worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Ronaldo was blessed with three sons; Eric, Ronald Jr. and Christopher Allan. Another blessing for Ronaldo was the gift of one granddaughter, Aubrey.
Ronaldo was an Navy Veteran. He served from 1974 to 1994. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of E - 5. Fortunately, Ronaldo enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ronaldo worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was employed for 20 Years by The United States Navy. Ronaldo always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Ronaldo enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were playing guitar, watching Padres and Chargers Games, Poker, Mauhong, and going to the Casino. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others. Ronaldo’s faith was important to him. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Ronaldo passed away on January 8, 2013 at home in San Diego California. He is survived by his wife Mena, his sons Eric, Ronald Jr. and Christopher Allan, his granddaughter Aubrey, his sister Gloria and his brother Emmanuel Sr. Services were held at Saint Charles Catholic Church on January 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Ronaldo was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Ronaldo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ronaldo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Ronaldo D. Guanlao.
