Mr. Rolando B Bernales, age 81, of Chula Vista, California, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Rolando was born in Rojas City, Capiz, Philippines. Rolando served in the United States Navy for 10 years before being medically discharged. After, he worked at Naval Air Station North Island PWC for 32 years.
During his time of service, he met his wife Minerva Reyes in Coronado, California, and married in 1972. The next year in 1973, Rolando and Minerva welcomed their first son, Janssen (Jay). Then in 1979, Jennard (Berns), their youngest son, was born. Rolando was married to Minerva, the love of his life, for over 50 years.
Rolando (Rollie) was always very kind and humble, generous and giving, and lived a life rooted in his strong faith in God. He loved gathering with family and friends and his house was often the gathering place for anything and everything. Rollie enjoyed nature, traveling, bowling, and watching boxing, especially Manny Pacquiao. After he retired, he enjoyed gardening, casinos, and raising his grandchildren.
Rollie is survived by his wife, Minerva, and his two sons and their families: Jay (wife Janene and sons J.J. and JonJon) and Berns (wife Michelle and son Benji and daughter Evie).
A visitation and celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 13th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park - Magnolia Room in Bonita.
