Mario Ortiz García, "Nonno" to his grandchildren and "Lucho" to his cousins, passed away on March 13, 2024. Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, Mario is best remembered as a person of great faith in God, a friendly, persevering person, and above all, as a Zacatecano with a heart of gold and a special twinkle in his eye.
With his charisma and business sharpness, Mario managed to establish his own business and became a mentor to many. He shared his success by doing charitable works and spoiling his grandchildren.
There was never a dull moment with Mario. He loved to visit Valle de Guadalupe and enjoy exquisite wine and food; he was passionate about discussing Mexican politics and found happiness marching "La Marcha de Zacatecas" with his grandchildren.
His laughter filled any place, and his stories, which became a little more exaggerated each time he told them, became funny anecdotes that will be remembered for years to come.
It will not be the same without Mario. We will miss his contagious laughter, humor, unwavering determination, and his cool fashion style. However, he will always be with us in the stories we tell and in the good times we remember.
A visitation for Mario will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Glen Abbey Mortuary's Magnolia Room, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902. A funeral mass will occur Friday, April 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1120 Cuyamaca Ave, Chula Vista, California 91911. A committal service will occur Friday, April 5, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902.
