Manuel Guerrero Sablan Jr. passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 - at the age of 62 in Lacey, WA. He was born in San Pedro, California on January 15, 1962, to parents Manuel Guerrero Sablan Sr. and Rita Cruz Sablan. Manuel was the oldest of 4 children - and spent his childhood years growing up in the Chula Vista region of San Diego, California.
As a child, he was very smart. He showed progress beyond his grade level and had a natural ability to absorb everything that he learned. Manuel also had a love for music, even learning how to play the accordion and the viola when he was young as well. This passion for learning and music continued to grow further into his life.
Manuel was a man of faith. He began his Catholic faith as an altar boy at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. As he got older, he continued to grow with his religion when he became a part of the community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, WA. Manuel served as a catechism teacher for faith formation while also being a part of the church choir. Faith was a big part of his life, and he was a true child of God.
After graduating from Montgomery High School in 1980, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 to 1992, serving in events like Operation Desert Storm. In 1994, he began his career working for the United States Postal Service, where he continued to work until the day of his passing - a 30 year career.
Manuel is survived by his wife Cherie, children Patrick (Lacie), Lisa-Marie, and Joshua, grandsons Jaden, Jeremiah, and Jameson, siblings Elaine, Joseph (Linda), and Patrick (Nat), In addition, Manuel enjoyed singing karaoke, participating in the church community, and watching movies and TV. He was loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
