He was born on February 4, 1927 in Cumberland County, NC, the son of Lawrence and Lula Faircloth. First Sgt. Faircloth was retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years of service and served honorably in WWII and the Korean War. He was in combat on Pork Chop and Hamburger Hill in 1950-52. He managed the Holden Beach Pier for ten years and was an expert hunter and fisherman teaching all of his children and grandchildren the joys of fishing and the appreciation for birds, deer and the outdoors.
He was also a longtime member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church and Deacon for 50 years and named Deacon Emeritus of Sabbath Home in appreciation for his dedicated service in 2022. He was honored for his outstanding, meritorious, and loyal service. He and his wife, Mrs. Erika E. Faircloth, faithfully served the Lord displaying exemplary character and Christian testimony with his leadership, endurance and vision.
Herman was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Herman Faircloth and grandson, James Cary Faircloth, son of James (Jamie) Arthur Lawrence and Sheri Fulford Faircloth. Also preceding him was Lillian Faircloth Ozment, Houston Faircloth, Le Roy Faircloth, Helen Faircloth Saunders, Judy Faircloth Taylor, and Lottie Faircloth Hammond.
Surviving is his wife of 74 years, Erika Kreisler Faircloth, and two children Joyce Christine Faircloth Judah and James Arthur Lawrence Faircloth. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Faircloth Taylor and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his grandson Brandice Cane Faircloth, his wife, Brea, and their daughter Bella Faircloth. He also left behind his granddaughter, daughter of Joyce C. Judah, Jennifer Heather Brooke Judah Fisher, her husband, Jonathan Fisher, and their three sons, Isaih, Jacob, and Elijah Fisher. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Nicole Faircloth Bullard and her children, Layla, Hayley, David Jr., and Madelyn Bullard; and other grand and great grand children including Audreanna and Ansley Faircloth, all of Supply, NC.
Also surviving are nephews and nieces in Germany and Australia, Mathias and Thomas Kreisler, Sybille Gunther and Yutta Kreisler, their spouses and children. There are also many extended family members, friends, relatives, and cousins, living in Cumberland, Sampson and surrounding counties. Among them are Pastor Rory Thigpen, Pastor Doug Worley, Sheila, Suzy, Karen Ann, Kathy Ann, Lisa, Donnie, Bert, Della, Bertha, Wayne, Rhonda, and many others. He loved them all.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday October 13, 2024 at two o'clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Bolivia Chapel with Reverend Rory Thigpen officiating. Burial will follow in Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
