“Debbie” was born on September 2, 1952 to Charles Harold Blythe and Dolores Simpson Blythe of Huntersville, NC. A long-term resident of Huntersville and graduate of North Mecklenburg High, Debbie worked in Charlotte for many years having roles at the City of Charlotte, Duke Power and Telco.
Debbie’s love for the beach drew her and her family to Oak Island where she made a home and raised her children. After the heartbreaking death of her beloved daughter Sarah, she and her husband Bobby made Stanfield their home. After Bobby’s death, she returned to coastal NC.
Debbie enjoyed family life most of all and stayed in touch with her sisters, brothers, many cousins, nieces, nephews and the extended Allen family. She was always happy to care for new family members when they were young. “Sister”, “Sam”, “Sambo”, “Aunt Debbie”, “Miss Debbie”, she went by them all and will be missed by many.
Debbie is predeceased by her daughter Sarah, husband Bobby, sister Mary, brother Jimmy and special cousin and friend Susan Blythe. She is survived by her son Joseph, her dear sisters Beverly and Nancy, her brother Chuck, Bobby’s children Marcie, Rob and Rick, her brother-in-law Eddie, sisters-in-law Andrea and Pam, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews and Bobby’s grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at a future time. Gifts in memoriam can be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Huntersville, NC.
