Silvia Adriana Miller passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 72 in Boca Raton, Florida. Her battle with cancer showed her courage in facing life challenges with poise and strength. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She was born to Adolfo and Mercedes Censi on July 3, 1949 and lived in her hometown of San Nicolas, Argentina for 24 years with her late brother Richard. She spent countless weekends surrounded by a large family of cousins, aunts and uncles at their family ranch. What she valued most was time spent with her extended family.
Silvia was often considered the most fashionable girl in the neighborhood, always made up and donning the latest styles. She even braved the cobblestone streets of her town with 6 inch platform heels. The world had big plans for this glamorous girl, as she soon met her love, an American working in San Nicolas who liked to play at the local golf course. She married Robert 'Bob' Miller in 1974 and soon they were off to live and start a new life together in Hawaii.
Together they had 2 daughters, Jennifer and Malia, both born in Honolulu. The family of four traveled the world, often moving every two years to places including Spain, Hawaii, Argentina, and Holland. Silvia always found ways to be involved in the community and immerse herself in their new location. No matter where they lived, she also always made any house they moved to into a true home. Time around the dinner table with friends and family was of the utmost importance and where she helped create so many lifelong memories.
Over the years, she loved recounting stories from their adventures and experiences from visiting more than 30 countries over her lifetime. She instilled in her children the belief that an expanded worldview made anyone a better citizen of the world.
The biggest loves of her life were her grandchildren, Kai and Keanu. Despite the distance with them living in Istanbul, she always made time for daily video calls. She was so proud of who they were becoming and so in love with both of them. Her dog Riley got just as spoiled as her grandchildren.
Silvia's larger than life spirit made so many people smile whenever she was in their presence. She brought beauty (and the party!) to everything she touched, and she approached life with so much zest. She was loved and adored and will forever be in our hearts.
She's survived by her family: husband Robert of 47 years; oldest daughter Jennifer Miller and husband Kendrick Disch of Atlanta, GA; youngest daughter Malia Akinci and husband Murat Akinci of Istanbul, Turkey; and grandchildren Kai and Keanu Akinci. She leaves behind good friends and a loving extended family of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews in both the US and Argentina.
She'll always be remembered for her big smile and her big heart. Silvia proudly donated and volunteered for causes close to her heart. To further cancer research, donations can be made in her memory to The American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org).
