Pierrette Lili Camps Komarek, affectionately known as "Lady Pierre" has passed away, Thursday, 26 January in Boca Raton, Florida. Intelligent, sincere, and feisty, Pierrette would often say, "What did I do to deserve such a wonderful life and family"? Right up until the last moments of her life, she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren to whom she dished her favorite quotes: "Remember, every adversity brings with it the seed of greater benefit"; living well is the best revenge”; and, a Grandmere classic, “For of those to whom much is given, much is required”. Born in Algeria, North Africa, Pierrette was proud of her heritage and history as a Pied-Noir -- forever loyal to its shores, her quartier of Bab-el-Oued, and her spirited and beloved Camps family in France. Content to raise her children in the states after arriving as a war bride in 1944, she discovered a gift and passion for decorating and refurbishing of old homes in the states and later in Europe where she would live for thirty years. A voracious reader, historian, debater and raconteur, Pierrette loved a good debate. She also wrote myriad books, articles and posts about her life growing up during the war in the Cafe de Cadix and the influence of healing and Chiropractic on her family. She was a frequent speaker in her community where her french accent, sarcasm and animated delivery was always a hit with the audience. She credits her values and joie de vivre to her origins and parents, Salvador and Rose. She leaves too soon behind her French and American family each in their own way inheriting her legacy of courage, humor, optimism, gratitude and authenticity. Her stunned but, appreciative family of six children, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren wish to share this news with her many Facebook friends and amis across the globe. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Dr. John J. Komarek. A private beach ceremony to celebrate her life is planned in May. In lieu of flowers or a donation, Grandmere would say, "Go and light a candle"!
