Born in Hampton, Virginia to the late Claude and Mabel Llewellyn Hotaling and raised in New Salem, New York, Margaret was the older sister of the late Gwendolyn Starker and William Hotaling and wife of the late Robert Westervelt.
Educated at the State University of New York at Albany, she became a teacher in New York and and spent 4 years as the principal of the Kamehameha Girls School in Hawaii. Since moving to Boca Raton Margaret has been very active in her community, having been a loyal volunteer for many years of the Boca Raton Regional Hospital and past president of the Debbie-Rand Memorial Service League and model for the league’s calendar. In 2011 Margaret was named Volunteer of the year for Palm Beach County.
Mourning her loss are nieces Linda Wolfe, Jacquelyn Westfall, Claudia Hoffman and Kelly Hotaling and nephew William Hotaling, their respective families, the St. Andrews Estates community and numerous lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm Friday May 12TH at St. Andrews Estates South with Chaplain Ray Broward Officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Lynn Cancer Institute.
