John, a resident of Boca Raton, Florida, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph E. Elick, Sr. and the late Ruby J. Elick (nee Smith). Raised in Forked River, New Jersey, John graduated from Lacey Township High School in 1982 and moved to South Florida in 1994. John was a lover of food and drink, travel, and the outdoors, especially the beach, where he spent much of his time during his last years. John’s greatest love was his family and his friends, he often said he got by “with a little help from my friends.”
John is survived by his four daughters, Jacquelyn (Brian) Knudsen, Jaylene (James) Tinerella, Jennifer (Caio) Trindade, and Jessica (Eddie) Valenzuela, his daughters’ mother, Lisa (David) Ulinder, five grandsons, Jayce Trindade, Gavin Knudsen, Bram Tinerella, Edward Valenzuela, and Ronin Knudsen, his older brother, Joseph E. Elick, Jr. (Paula), younger sister Kimberly K. Brinster (Richard), two nieces Stefanie Elick and Tiffany Elick, and nephew, Justin Elick.
A celebration of life will be held at Babione Funeral Home, 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, Florida 33428, on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for a memorial bench to honor John at Deerfield Beach. Donation inquiries can be directed to Jackie Knudsen. The bench will be installed facing the beach that John so loved.
