I met Jim in the Cayman Islands when I was a teenager around 1977 when I went on there on vacation with my parents each year. We met up for several years in a row and had many good times, adventures and stories to tell ! I kept in touch with Jim many years later and met up with him and his friends at Whistler Mountain a few times and had some great times. Here are some photos (year 2000) I am very sorry and am sad as I just tried to look him up to say hi.

I met you long time ago through your brother, and will never forget you and your family. Rest in peace!!

Jim Vreeland was a "special guy" to many people.  I worked with Jim for 12 years at J.P. Morgan Chase.  Although he was in Florida and we only saw each other "face to face" a couple times a year,  we always looked forward to seeing each other.  Whoever found the other first at a Chase event would say "There you are - I've been looking for you".

Jim was valued by eveyone who worked with him.  He was a fabulous salesperson and manager.  Those of whom he mentored spoke very highly of him.  Everyone spoke highly of him.

Jim, Lisa and his family have been in my thougts a lot lately, and also in my prayers.  Jim is with God now, and while this brings me comfort, I'm also very, very sad.

Earlier today I asked myself "What is it about this man that made him so special to me?" 

I remember years ago when his daughters were small he visited Michigan for a wedding.  He was coming a day early and Joe and I were going to take Lisa and Jim on the boat and show them "Detroit".   Unfortunatley one of the "little ones" got sick so the visit never happened. 

The next time I saw Jim, I asked him "So, how did you like Michigan?"  He said "I hated it.  The golf courses were mushy and I really just don't like Michigan".   As hard as I tried, I couldnt get him to say one nice thing about Michigan!  As annoying as that was to me - I appreciated that he was being so HONEST with me.  No sugar coatings here.  Sort of reminds me of another man that was/is so very special to me.

Another time Joe was whining about not closing enough loans and how backed up our office was.  Jim looked at Joe and said "So, how much money are you making this year?"  He even got Joe to shut up!  You have to love a guy that can do that.

So Jim - I will miss you.  I will continue to pray for you and your beautiful family.   I know that you and Joe both have a special place up there.  Have a ball!

My thoughts and prayers to Lisa and the girls to get through this sad period in their life.  Jim was a good person and his memory will be kept alive by the wonderful memories you have of him.  I am glad to have known him. Rest in peace Jim.

You and I have so many memories together during our career at Chase. I will hopefully be worthy of joining you in Heaven one day so we may continue our friendship. You and I came a long way since our first meeting of each other when our 2 banks merged together. For some reason, God put us together under one company to make us better men for it over time. That may have taken a long time to develope but God has His purpose. During that journey, we became good friends. We became authentic. I will cherish those memories we had together with you and our 2 families. May you rest in peace and enjoy all the angels that are with you and God in Heaven.
