Emma was born July 12, 2006 and lived more in her short 13 years than most of us could hope to in a hundred years. Emma’s parents, Kelley and Mike and her brother Michael were so blessed when she entered the world in typical Emma fashion - in her own time and her own way.
Emma was a beautiful soul and her sparkling brilliance and bright light shone so bright she lit up any room she walked into. She was such a gift to us all but most especially to Kelley, Mike and Michael. She was a wonderful daughter and sister. She made her family proud every single day. Emma gave her whole heart to everyone she cared about. She had a passion for her family and was very protective of her brother Michael. She loved her aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents so deeply. Emma was the best friend and quiet leader among her group of amazing cheer sisters and all of her friends. Emma loved cheerleading more than anything. She just glowed when she took the mat! She was always so thankful for her coaches from Cheer Florida Allstars who were amazing mentors and role models to her. Emma also enjoyed school. She was an eight grader at Coral Springs Middle School where she was consistently on the honor roll. She enjoyed many things in her short time with us. When not at cheer or school she enjoyed going to the beach, doing crafts, hanging out with her friends, traveling and spending time with family! She was such a well rounded individual!
Emma took on the battle against cancer with grace and courage. She never asked why me. She understood her diagnosis, medications and treatments with more knowledge than any child should ever possess. She was an amazement to every medical professional who had the pleasure of meeting her. We were blessed to have the most amazing medical team from Joe DiMaggio caring for Emma. The doctors and nurses all helped Emma through this battle while forging a bond of trust and love. We will be forever grateful to them all!
Emma leaves behind her parents MIchael & Kelley (Mercon) Sorensen and her beloved brother Michael.
Emma also leaves behind her great grandfather, Arnold Grassi and her adoring aunts and uncles Eric and Michele Green, Roy and Lauri Pella, Sean Mercon, Scott and Stacy Sorensen, and David and Susan Sorensen. Emma’s cousins adored her immensely and include Ryan Alvarado-Mercon, Mikaela Green, Michael Green, Hadley Sorensen, Scott Sorensen Jr., Gabrielle Mercon, Noelle Mercon, Amanda Molina, Carissa Young, David Sorensen, Jr. and Liana Sorensen.
Emma is predeceased by her loving grandparents Steven and Janet Mercon, Jacqueline Sorensen, David Sorensen and her great grandmother Loretta Grassi.
Emma will forever be a shining star in our universe. She is in heaven spreading her sparkle upon us all!
