Elaine Mackechnie, age 77, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Trustbridge Hospice with her family by her side. Elaine was born February 8, 1943 in Holyoke, Massachusetts and attended Holyoke High School.
Elaine was one of three children born to the late Edward and Stella (Jendras) Prych and was the beloved ex-wife of William Mackechnie. Elaine will forever be remembered by her brothers, Raymond and Edmund Prych, daughter Doreen Clancy and her granddaughter, Madison Clancy. She also leaves behind her nieces, Theresa Manthripragada, Anne Morano, Mizu Howell, Nami Meier, and her nephew Jude Prych, along with twelve great nieces and nephews.
Elaine met William in 1966 while skiing at Mt. Tom in Holyoke, Massachusetts and married in 1968. They had one daughter, Doreen. Elaine was a registered insurance broker in the state of Massachusetts. In 1984, the family moved to Boca Raton, Florida where Elaine worked for various builders of luxury custom homes. After retiring from home construction, she volunteered numerous hours a week at Hospice By The Sea Thrift Shop, until she was hired by the corporate office as their Purchasing/Receiving Specialist. During this time, Elaine was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and again, retired. As the disease got worse, her loving ex-husband and daughter moved Elaine back into his home so they would be able to care for her. Elaine lived there until she needed around-the-clock care and then resided at Heartland of Boynton Beach Memory Care nursing home. From March 11, 2020 to August 3, 2020, she was to have no visitors due to the State of Florida Protocol for COVID-19.
Elaine was under Hospice care until she passed away on August 12, 2020.
A visitation for Elaine will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Babione - Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
