Dianne Walsh was my boss for 20 years.  She was also my mentor, my friend, my confidant, and my supporter.   Dianne was a fierce leader and an instinctive manager.  Any question you would ask, she always would respond immediately with the right answer.    She was the hardest working person I knew.   I will miss walking one door over from my office to hers and catching up every day on all things not related to work.  I feel like I knew each person in her beloved family, as that was her favorite topic.  My life is forever changed because of Dianne and I will miss her dearly.   

I met Dianne at Westat over 40 years ago and have so many wonderful memories of our times there.  She was so fun to be around and so gracious to everyone.  She loved her family deeply and was so happy to have a home in Florida to enjoy with them.  Rest in peace dear friend.

I knew Dianne when she worked at Westat on the NAEP program and I worked at ETS. Westat partners with ETS and a few other organizations to work on NAEP. When I first started on NAEP in 2015 and traveled to Maryland for a 100+ person meeting, I remember how welcomed Dianne made me feel as a new team member; she was warm and vibrant. Her smiled brightened up every room she entered. Her grace, thoughtfulness, and leadership made a lasting impact on all of us and the program itself. Her legacy will continue to live on in all who work on the program and the friendship she forged with those who knew her. 

I have known Dianne since 1985 when my partner, Rita Stone, went to work at Westat and they quickly became fast friends.  The three of us became close until Rita passed in 2011.  Dianne was a great comfort to me in that time of trouble and following until I left for California in 2013.  I remained in touch with Dianne, Frank and Jenny over the years.  I will hold fond memories of Dianne's companionship, good cheer, and advice.
