Virginia Dee (Hacker) Chitwood Miller, age 90, of Bloomington, died Friday morning at Indiana University Health, Bloomington Hospital. Born December 18, 1920 in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Fred O. and Blanche R. (Bennett) Hacker. She retired from the Bloomington Post Office as an assistant to the Postal Inspector. She was formerly employed at R.C.A. during W.W. II and worked for a short time for Sarkes Tarzian. She was also the co-owner of a Stanley Steemer franchise with her husband, Robert, and the co-owner of Bloomington Professional Carpet Cleaning. She graduated from Unionville High School and was a member of the North Central Church of Christ. She was very community minded, serving as the president of the Unionville P.T.A., the Monroe County Republicans as a precinct volunteer and as a quilting volunteer at the Wylie House Museum. She loved to quilt, winning many prizes at the Monroe County Fair.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Miller, of Bloomington; two daughters and one son, Janet (Stephen) Weiser, of Orinda, California and Lorna (David) Estes, of Bloomington and Steven Chitwood, of Orlando, Florida; one step-son James
(Sheri) Miller, of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, Matthew [Alexa (Mergen)] Weiser, Michael Weiser Amy (Michael) Stevenson, Heather (Chris) Smith, Thad Kelley (Misty), Betsy Adams (Pat), Ashley Chitwood and Courtney Owen (Will); three step-grandsons, Justin Miller, Adam Estes and Ryan Estes (Lisa), ten great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert G. Chitwood, one brother, Milburn Hacker and two sisters, Nona Allen and Irene Hardy.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Oliver Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Little Union Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
