Obituary of Thomas Gale Pittman
Thomas Gale Pittman, age 85, of Switz City, Indiana passed away, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton, Indiana. Born July 31, 1938 in Monroe County, Indiana, he was the son of Walter Lee and Martha Elizabeth (Elkins) Pittman. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, class of 1957 and a U.S. Navy veteran and member of American Legion Post #22 in Linton, Indiana. He was an Endowment Patriot Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed day trading, NASCAR, repairing his own vehicles, remodeling several of his own homes, boating and skeet shooting. Immediately after his release from the U.S. Navy, Thomas worked at Crane NWSC. He later worked for Consolidated Freightways for over 30 years as a truck driver and earned their 3 million miles safe driver award. He then went to work as an interim harbor master for Seabrook Marina in Seabrook, Texas. Thomas was of the Christian faith. Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Richmond) Pittman, of Switz City; two sons, Mike Pittman and his fiancé, Savannah Cowart, of Hitchcock, Texas and Jack Christopher Pittman and his companion, Lisa Little, of Salem, Indiana, one brother, Herschel (Beverly) Pittman, of Bloomfield and two sisters, Charlotte Sue Sanford, of Bloomfield and Shirley Roberta Denis, of Plainfield, Indiana. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Walter Lee Pittman and Martha Elizabeth (Elkins) Pittman Todd, one daughter, Cecilia Kathleen Pittman, one sister, Betty Rogers, and three brothers, Walter Lee Pittman, Jr., Ralph Edward Pittman and David L. Pittman. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Stanford Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
