Ruth Anne Romans, age 80, of Scottsburg, formerly of Indianapolis and Bloomington, died Sunday morning in The Waters of Scottsburg. She was a resident of Meadowood in Bloomington prior to moving to Scottsburg. Born February 6, 1930 in Effingham, Illinois, she was the daughter of James E. and Laura M. (Wharton) Burk. She was a graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing. She retired as an occupational nurse for Detroit Diesel-Allison Division in Indianapolis. She had formerly worked at Methodist Hospital and Community Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a member of Old Bethel United Methodist Church and Toastmasters International in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Clark, of Bloomington; her son, Joe Romans, of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one brother, James Burk, of San Diego, California and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington with Rev. Mary Cartwright officiating. Burial will be Thursday afternoon in Effingham, Illinois. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
