Bro. Robert Eugene Hamm

Bro. Robert E. Hamm, age 92, of Bloomington, died Tuesday afternoon at the Golden Living Center in Bloomington. Bro. Hamm was born December 2, 1922 in Monroe County, the son of Charles and Velma (Hendricks) Hamm. He was a W.W. II U. S. Army veteran and was a Church of Christ minister, currently serving at the Church of Christ on W. 11th St.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Lee and Sandy Hamm, of Cumby, Texas; three sisters, Sharon Ludwig, of Whitehall, Barbara Porter, of Monroe County and Wilma James, of Martinsville; two brothers, Joe E. Hamm, of Ellettsville and Donald Hamm, of Whitehall; five grandchildren, Yancy Unger, Holly Thatcher, Jamie Kelsey, Kenneth Hamm and Brian Hamm and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Goble) Hamm, in 2008, his daughter, Deborah J. Unger, two sisters, Louise Edwards and Juanita Pless and five brothers, Jerry Hamm, Archie Hamm, Charles Hamm, Jr., Louie Hamm and Harold Hamm.
The funeral service will be held on Friday (5/22) at 3:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with Bro. Joe Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Chambersville Cemetery where the Monroe Veterans Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday (5/21)from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
