Robert Franklin Arthur Sr. age 91, of Bloomington passed on Tuesday, February 9, 2022 at his residence. Born July 17th, 1930 in Bloomington, he was the son of Yakey Arthur and Rosella Ruth (Davis) Arthur.
Robert graduated from Solsberry High School in 1947 and soon joined the Army afterwards. He and his wife of 67 years, Mary “Emogene” (Fielder) Arthur, met on January 11, 1953 at church, were engaged on October 11, 1953 and were wed on November 11, 1954. Soon after marriage, Robert was employed by the United States Post Office from which he retired after many years of employment. He was a member of the Christian Tabernacle in Bloomington and was a very active member of the church. Robert was also an avid walker for many years and loved to visit with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his three sons; Robert Arthur, Jr. and wife, Debbie, of St. Peters, Missouri, Jerry Arthur and wife, Pam, of Bloomington and John Arthur and wife, Myra, of Bourbonnais, Illinois; one brother; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emogene; his parents Yakey and Rosella Arthur; one brother; and one sister.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15th at 10 am at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
