OBITUARY
Mary Alice Oakes
23 May, 1944 – 28 March, 2018
Mary Alice Oakes, age 73, of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House, Born May 23, 1944 in Stinesville, she was the daughter of Elmer Butler and Ruth Frances (Miller) Taylor. Mary Alice graduated from Stinesville High School, class of 1962 and retired as an electronics technician for Otis Elevator after 29 years of service. She was a member of the AmVets Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose. Mary Alice loved to play Euchre.
Mary Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Dave Vandeventer, of Bloomfield, her son, Charles Ryan “Chip” Oakes, of Solsberry, her sister, Judith Ann (John) Myers, of Springville, sister-in-law, Judy Taylor, of Bloomington; three grandsons, Ryan Oakes, Jake Sims and Christian Freeman, several cousins, nieces and nephews and her little yorkie, “Rosie”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Oakes, one daughter, Mary Denise Oakes and her brother, Phillip Orville Taylor.
The funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary; 700 W. Gourley Pike. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 1:00p.m.to 5:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to all whom held a special place in Mary Alice’s heart; Linda, Barbie, Dee, Larry, Bradley, Junior, and many others and to the firemen of the Perry-Clear Creek Fire Dept. for their assistance when called upon.
