Jim was born July 1st, 1939 in Bloomington, and was the son of William Melville and Rose Marie (Jackson) Alexander.
Jim is survived by his wife Emily Rose, son Jim Alexander (Wendi and son Scout) of Bloomington, daughter Shelley Coleman (husband Scott, daughter Alex, and son Clay) of Gun Barrel, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Gene Alexander (wife Bridgett) and sister Denise Vernon (husband Mike).
Jim entered the Navy upon the completion of high school and lived in various places throughout the US. Returning to Bloomington, he started working at RCA, where he retired after more than 30 years of service. Jim enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was a great father, who took pride in being a good parent. He also had many hobbies including fishing, boating, motorcycling, and restoring vintage cars. All of his activities were enjoyed by his trusted wife of 38 years, Emily Rose. They were rarely apart and shared many years of adventure and fun together.
Jim was preceeded in death by his father Mel, mother Rose, and sister Lois Marie.
Visitation for Jim will be 10 am – 12 noon on Thursday April 7th at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East 3rd Street, Bloomington, IN 47401. Services will start at 12 noon with burial to follow at the Valhalla Memory Gardens with military honors presented by the Monroe County Honor Guard.
