Curtis Solomon Johnson, age 62, of Bloomington, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence. Born August 28, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Arthur Johnson, Sr. and Orene (Allen) Johnson. He was a skilled mason and a U.S. Army veteran having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Curtis was a member of the Second Baptist Church, American Legion and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Foster) Johnson, of Bloomington; four children, Helen Cooper (Ryan), of Patricksburg, Indiana, Christopher Gaither (Monica); of Orrington, Maine, Beth Gaither (Omar), of Bloomington and Tré Anna Johnson (Amber Rector), of Bloomington; four sisters, Edith Frelix (Vodra); of Chicago, Senora Stanford (David), of Atlanta, Georgia, Vernicia Miller, of St. Louis, Missouri and Renee Bush; Choctow, Oklahoma and four grandchildren, Resse Cooper, Tuff Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Jr. and Amia Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Allen, Earl Johnson and Arthur Johnson, Jr. and one sister, Myrtle Lawrence.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 19 at Day Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Bruce Rose officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
