Bruce E. Robbins
19 May, 1922 – 14 September, 2011
Bruce E. Robbins, age 89, of Bloomington, died Wednesday afternoon at his residence after a brief illness. Born May 19, 1922 in Bloomington, he was the son of Medford and Dorothy (Hudson) Robbins. He retired from the Bloomington Limestone Company where he was an overhead crane operator. He enjoyed bowling and playing Pinochle. He was a member of South Union Christian Church and a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran of W.W. II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Robbins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Edward and Pat Robbins, of Charleston, SC and Stephen E. and Elaine Robbins, of Greenwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Robert Fleenor, of Scottsburg; two grandchildren, Shelby Worley, of Scottsburg and Phillip Robbins, of Bellville, IL and one great-grandson, Skylar Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the South Union Cemetery with Jim Cain officiating. Burial will follow the service. Friends may visit the family at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington on Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M.
