Betty Jo Carpenter Robertson, 94 of Bloomington died Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Garden Villa Health Care Center. She was born December 24, 1921 in Kansas City Kansas to Roy Vane Carpenter, Sr. and Josephine Henrieta Clyde Carpenter. On May 9, 1943 Betty married Robert Robertson and they remained married until his death on August 14, 1990. She was retired from the Monroe County Community School Corporation with 28 years of Service, where she was known as the Bloomington High School “Book Store Lady”. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Bloomington and was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Survivors include three sons, Russell Lee Robertson of Douglas, AZ, Roy Neff Robertson, Springville, IN and Clyde Robert Robertson (Sheila) of Bedford; two daughters, Dicie Jo Niccum of Springdale, AR and Carol Lynn Hazel (Don) of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Roy Vane Carpenter, Jr. and Billy B. Carpenter; and one sister, Jaunita Carpenter.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 W Gourley Pike with Pastors James Barr and Brian Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Monday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
